The Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts ( Montenegrin Црногорска академија наука и умјетности (ЦАНУ) Crnogorska akademija nauka i umjetnosti (CANU) ) is a state academy in Montenegro .
The Academy was founded by decision of the Parliament of the Republic of Montenegro on June 10, 1973 as the Academy of Sciences and Arts in Montenegro ; In 1976 it was given what is now the name of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts . It is the highest state institution for science and arts in Montenegro.
In the three academy classes natural sciences, social sciences and arts, 42 scientific members and 28 external members are employed. Over 350 researchers are involved in 24 projects at the academy. Momir Đurović has been President of the Academy since 2002 .
