The Montes de Valsaín (Forests of Valsaín), especially the Pinar de Valsaín (Pine Forest of Valsaín), are among the most beautiful and well-known forest areas of the Sistema Central in Spain. They extend on the north side of the Sierra de Guadarrama from the Peñalara to the Pradera de Navalhorno .

The Pinar de Valsaín used to be owned by the city of Segovia and its Junta de Nobles Linajes. The forest was one of the reasons why Philip V had his palace built in La Granja de San Ildefonso.

The forests in the valley of Valsaín consist of two parts: the Monte Pinar with an area of 7,622 ha and the Monte Matas with 3,046 ha in. Montepinar is Scots pine with more than 4 million tribes, the dominant tree, the deeper Monte Matas dominated the Pyrenees oak . The forests are owned by the state and are entirely within the territory of the municipality of La Granja de San Ildefonso . The Pinar de la Acebada in the side valley of the Riofrío is a 587 hectare part of the Pinar de Valsaín , which was declared a Sitio Natural de Interés Nacional in 1930 . This makes it one of the first nature reserves in Spain.

In the Pinar de Valsaín , the trunks of the Scots pine reach a length of up to 30 meters, which is unusual for Spain, therefore and because of their regular growth they are very valued by the timber industry. The forest is managed sustainably, logging only takes place on small areas. There is a sawmill on site that markets the wood under the name Maderas de Valsaín .

The Pinar de Valsaín is expected to become part of the planned Guadarrama National Park .
