Montevideo swingers

The Montevideo Swingers were a Hamburg music cabaret group that existed from 1985 to 1990.

The eight singers and singers formed up with her pianist of members of the Monteverdi Choir of Hamburg . With changing line-ups and their own arrangements, they performed dance and operetta hits from the 1920s to 1950s. The focus was on compositions by Paul Abraham , Theo Mackeben , Ralph Benatzky and original songs by the arranger. The name of the group goes back to the tango song "Montevideo" by Ted Marwell from 1925, the year of birth of the choir founder and director Jürgen Juergens . In the German version by Fritz Grünbaum , it was the first song rehearsed.

Appearances

Approx. 75 full-length programs led her to engagements a. a. in Hamburg, Buxtehude , Detmold and Kiel . In addition to three live broadcasts, there were studio production of 24 repertoire songs on NDR radio and three appearances on TV shows on ARD .

NDR television portrayed the group in 1990 in the program "Nordlichter" on the occasion of the radio premiere of the operetta "Spring on Galapagos", a commission for the Montevideo swingers by Hannes Leffe, Matthes Loehr and Peter Bieringer.
