Montfalcon (noble family)
The Lords of Montfalcon were a noble Savoy family that took their name from the now destroyed castle of Montfalcon, in the east of Lac du Bourget . The first member known by name was Gautier, who founded the Saint-Innocent priory near Aix-les-Bains with his wife Bulgarda in 1084 . The family branched out into several branches, the most important of which was Montfalcon-Flaxieu, founded by Heinrich, who around 1370 married Eleonore von Balme, the heiress of Flaxieu in the Bugey . The two bishops of Lausanne, Aymon and Sébastien , also came from this line . The family died out in the middle of the 17th century.
