Sébastien de Montfalcon
Sébastien de Montfalcon (* 1489 ; † 1560 probably in Virieu-le-Petit ) was bishop of Lausanne from 1517 until his death .
Life
Sébastien came from the Savoyard noble family of the Lords of Montfalcon . He was the son of François, lord of Pierre-Charve, and the Jacqueline de la Rochette. He studied in Basel and was the owner of numerous charities , among other things he was Commendatarabbot of Ripaille . Pope Leo X appointed him coadjutor of his uncle Aymon de Montfalcon in 1513 , whom he followed in 1517 as Bishop of Lausanne. He fought the Reformation , which spread in Vaud from 1525, but had to leave Lausanne after the conquest of Vaud by Bern in March 1536 . He tried to set up an episcopal administration in Freiburg , but failed.
