Moon Chung-hee (born May 25, 1947 in Posŏng , South Chŏlla Province ) is a South Korean writer.

Life

Moon Chung-hee grew up in Seoul .

As a student at the Chinmyŏng Girls' High School, she has already won several literary prizes and published her first volume of poetry. She was then taught by the master of Korean poetry Sŏ Chŏng-ju . In 1969, during her studies at Dongguk University , she was named "Best Young Talent" by the monthly literature ( Wolgan munkak ) and entered the world of professional poetry.

Her work includes numerous anthologies. She has received a number of national and international awards, including the "Contemporary Literature Prize", the "Sowol Literature Prize for Poetry", and the "Chŏng Chi-yong Literature Prize". At the World Literature Forum in Tetovo , Macedonia, she won the poet's award 2004 with her work “Fountain”. Later she won other awards, including the award for the best artist of the year in 2008, selected by the Association of Korean Art Critics. In 2010 she was the winner of the 7th Cikada Prize.

Her poems have now appeared in several languages, in German for example Die Mohnblume im Haar (양귀비꽃 머리 에 꽂고), in English Moonflower and in Spanish Yo soy Moon . Her main works are in French, Hebrew, Japanese and other languages.
