Moon Rockets is a 1947 American short film directed by Robert Carlisle , produced by Jerry Fairbanks , who was nominated for an Oscar for the film .

content

The film demonstrates how rockets with a weight of 30 tons lift off into the ionosphere towards the moon . Color cameras are mounted in and on the rockets that send images over hundreds of miles to Earth. When they return to Earth, the instruments on board are carefully examined in order to be able to draw conclusions that may lead to new findings.

Production notes

It is a production by Paramount Pictures . The film is part of Paramount's Popular Science series and is the fifth or sixth production in the period 1946/1947. Jerry Fairbanks started the series in 1935, which contains 51 short films, the last film of which was made in 1949. The editors of the popular Science magazine supported the film project.

Filming locations were White Sands Missile Range and Alamogordo in New Mexico in the USA .

Award

Producer Jerry Fairbanks was nominated for an Oscar for the film at the 1948 Academy Awards in the category "Best Short Film" (1 film role) , but it went to Herbert Moulton and his film Goodbye, Miss Turlock , which has a nostalgic look at the after and after disappearing country schools throws.
