Herbert Moulton

Herbert Moulton (born September 16, 1922 , † June 14, 1994 ) was an American film producer and director who was awarded two Academy Awards. He also worked as a screenwriter and actor .

Life

Moulton began his career as a director in 1934 with the short film Hollywood Rhythm , which was followed by the documentaries The Hollywood You Never See and Hollywood Extra Girl . He invested his first job as a producer in the short production The Fashion Side of Hollywood . In the USA he became known for his television specials Hedda Hopper's Hollywood (1941/1942) and as the producer of the television series Dick Tracy (1950–1952).

In 1946 Moulton received an Oscar for Best Short Film (a film role) for the short biography Stairway to Light , which outlines the life of psychiatrist Philippe Pinel . With the film Goodbye, Miss Turlock , which was nominated in the category "Best Short Film" (a film role), he was able to repeat this success in 1948 . The film is a memorial to the teacher Miss Turlock and regrets the disappearance of small country schools in America . In 1949 Moulton was again nominated for Best Short Film (a film role) for a film from the short film series John Nesbitt's Passing Parade : Annie Was a Wonder . The theme is the period in the life of a Swedish woman when she emigrated to America, where she worked as a maid for the Nesbitt family and, after initial difficulties, integrated into the family until she married an American.
