Ruth Biller (born August 5, 1959 in Singen am Hohentwiel ) is a German painter .

Life

From 1981, Biller studied Romance languages, philosophy and art history at the University of Stuttgart and from 1982/1983 at the Free Academy for Knowledge and Design Merz Academy in Stuttgart. In 1983 she moved to the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart to study free painting and joined Moritz Baumgartl's basic class . From 1984 she studied painting at KRH Sonderborg .

Ruth Biller has lived in Berlin since 2000.

Ruth Biller's painting is created in layers, which she freely places on the canvas, whereby body and space come together process-like in overlays, reflections and transformations. In reflective recourse to existing image material, the painter creates her visual worlds that combine aspects of postmodern realism with the opulence of the baroque. It crosses the spectrum of perception of " Pop Art " painting with the color and spatial depth of European old masters, without being able to be assigned to these styles. The artist deliberately paints freely and without preliminary drawings on canvas.

In her solo exhibition “jardins corporels” (2006 in Berlin) she confronted her large-format paintings with performance and music. In addition to sequences of bodies, abstract ornamental landscape gardens were created. In 2011 she juxtaposed her paintings with a kinetic sculpture in Berlin and highlighted her strong connection to movement as a source of inspiration through video, drawing and dance themes. She worked on exhibitions in Turkey (Istanbul) from 2004 and in the USA (Scope Miami) in 2008 in drawings and prints.
