The church stands in the center of the village of Aphoven am Blankenberg.
history
After the founding of a chapel association in 1899, the local pastor of Heinsberg applied for a building permit to build a new church in 1901 . The plans came from the architect Corby from Heinsberg. The first service was celebrated in 1904 . The solemn consecration of the church took place on June 29, 1931 . During the war , the church tower was blown up and the church was damaged. In 1952 the church was expanded by a yoke in the west according to plans by Wilhelm Andermahr from Wassenberg and a new tower was built on the south-west corner . In 1961 the church received a new sacristy on the north side of the choir, in 1969 the chancel was rearranged.
architecture
The building is a brick cruciform church with four bays in the nave . Behind the crossing of the transept is the choir bay and the choir, which is closed on three sides. The four-story tower has a pointed, eight-sided helmet .
