Coordinates: 51 ° 0 '34 ″  N , 6 ° 5 ′ 38 ″  E The Mother of God Chapel , which is also a war memorial chapel , is located in the Straeten district ofthe city of Heinsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is a listed building as an architectural monument.

The chapel is on the corner of Gillrather Strasse, Turmstrasse and Waldhufenstrasse.

history

Our Lady Chapel was built in 1861. It was converted into a war memorial chapel by the parish.

architecture

The building is a small brick construction with an ogival blind niche and an entrance door with a slight arch . The chapel has blind arcades all around . The four windows are also ogival. A four-sided roof turret with a pyramid roof stands on the slated roof . This is crowned by a tower cross and a weathercock . Inside the chapel closes with a three-sided choir .

Furnishing

  • The chapel has stained glass .
  • In the chapel an altar , a pietà , a crucifix and the names of the deceased and missing soldiers of the two world wars of Straeten.
