The St. Lambertus Church is located in the Randerath district in the town of Heinsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is a listed building as an architectural monument.
location
The three-aisled church is the center of the place. It is in Randerath on Feldstrasse directly on the market square and in the vicinity of Randerath Castle. On the east side of the church is the memorial of soldiers killed and missing in the war.
history
The 15th century church burned down in 1670. In 1885 a building association was founded and the architect Lambert von Fisenne was commissioned to plan the restoration of the three-nave church. In 1893 work began on the new building according to the architect's plans. On November 28, 1895, the new church could be designated. During the Second World War , the church was blown up in January 1945. In 1949 a new church was built according to plans by Fritz van Well from Aachen . It was consecrated on March 19, 1950. In 1964 the chancel was rebuilt according to a plan by Josef Höttges from Mönchengladbach and on August 16, 1964 the new altar was inaugurated by Archbishop Joseph Attipetty , Verapoly, India . In 1980/83 the church was renovated under the direction of architect Lennartz from Erkelenz .
St. Lambertus is now part of the Community of Communities (GdG) Heinsberg-Oberbruch ( Diocese of Aachen ).
architecture
The church is a brick building with three polygonal apses from the previous three-aisled church. The church has five window axes . A pre-built, undivided west tower is covered by a receding four-sided helmet . The church and tower roof is shod with slate. On the north side there is a mission cross from 1728 under a protective roof and a stone cross in a wall niche .
Furnishing
- The organ with 16 registers , with mechanical and electrical action from 1980 was built by the Klais company from Bonn .
- In the church tower there are four bells from 1680 and 1958.
- A tower clock is built into the church tower .
- The church has stained glass.
