location

The church is the center of the village and is at the highest point on Uetterather Dorfstraße. In front of the church is the memorial of soldiers who died in the war and who went missing. Next to the church there is the rectory in the immediate vicinity.

history

The old chapel received a side aisle in 1428 and later a tower and a larger chancel. Due to a lack of space, it was decided to build a new church. In 1883 the foundation stone was laid for the church designed by Heinrich Ferdinand Mergard from Aachen . A year later it was assigned and solemnly consecrated on May 29, 1893. War damage caused by the blown tower was repaired under the direction of the architects Karl Diehl and Hans Fronzek from Düsseldorf until 1950. The church tower was built in 1952, a new sacristy in 1953 and a new baptistery in 1959. On July 3rd, 1988 the new high altar was consecrated .

architecture

The building is a neo-Romanesque three-nave brick - hall church with a triumphal arch and four bays in the nave. The choir yoke has a semicircular end of the choir. The yokes of the nave have domed vaults. The front west tower has four storeys and is covered by a pyramid roof with a tower cross and a weathercock.

Furnishing

  • The organ with 17 registers , with mechanical and electrical action from 1966, was built by Heinz Wilbrand from Übach .
  • In the church tower there are three bells from 1441 and 1954.
  • The church has stained glass .
