history

In 1553, the trained church Heinsberg. The oldest surviving testimony of the Reformed community of Heinsberg is a book from 1601. It lists all the members of the young Reformed community of Heinsberg up to 1613. After many difficulties due to religious prohibitions and a lack of space, the first church was built in early 1800. The inauguration took place on December 3, 1809. When a bell was given to the parish in 1875, the church received a small tower. A second bell was donated by the director of the United Glanzstoff-Fabriken Boos. After the start of the war, a bell had to be handed in to be melted down. When Heinsberg fell to rubble on November 16, 1944, a direct hit destroyed the church with the bell.

After the Second World War , the number of believers grew steadily. For a long time the service was celebrated in the hospital chapel. In 1951 the district administration made the home available. According to the construction plans of the architects Karl and Walter Jendges , the church building association built the rectory and the youth home in 1950/51 . The Christ Church, built in 1952/53, was consecrated on March 15, 1953. The Heinsberg parish can look back on 400 years of history .
