Detlef Buch

Detlef Buch (* 1974 ) is a German officer ( Oberstleutnant i. G.), military sociologist and author . He works for the Science and Politics Foundation and has published important articles on conscription .

Life

Book comes from Mecklenburg . He studied for a degree in pedagogy , psychology and sociology and was awarded a dissertation in 2002 at the Institute for Social Problems and Social Policy of the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich with a dissertation on alcoholic aid in the GDR. A socio-educational consideration of the Dr. phil. PhD.

From 2003 to 2004 he was a security policy advisor at the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin. From 2004 to 2005 he was employed as the company commander of the 18th Air Force Training Company in Strausberg . From 2006 to 2008 he completed the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr (FüAkBw) in Hamburg. He is currently vested in the Bundeswehr the rank of lieutenant colonel i. G. the Air Force.

Since then, Buch has been a research associate at the Science and Politics Foundation (SWP) in Berlin, where he is part of the security policy research group led by political scientist Markus Kaim .

He is the author of several books, most of which have been published by Peter Lang Verlag . His academic focus is on social history , education and military sociology. He has an essential part in the volumes on conscription 5 plus 1 (ed. Andreas Ahammer and Stephan Nachtigall, 2009) and Darum conscription! (Ed. Ulrich Kirsch , 2010) of the Nomos Verlag . In addition, he is a freelance journalist u. a. for Deutschlandradio Kultur , the news portal EurActiv , the opinion and debate magazine The European and the Austrian daily Die Presse as well as a speaker and a. worked for the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Society for Defense and Security Policy . He accepted teaching positions at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Humboldt University in Berlin .

In November 2013 he was elected as Chairman of the Air Force on the Federal Board of the German Armed Forces Association (DBwV) at the Annual General Meeting . He lives in Berlin .
