Ulrich Kirsch (born September 4, 1951 in Merzhausen / Ziegenhain ) is a colonel in the Army of the German Armed Forces and was Federal Chairman of the German Armed Forces Association from the beginning of 2009 to 2013 .

Military career

In 1971, Kirsch joined the German Armed Forces and completed general basic training as a telecommunications operator with the Air Force Training Regiment in Roth . It was followed by the officer training . From 1971 to 1973 he served in the flight operations squadron of the Fighter Bomber Wing 32 (JaboG 32) in Lechfeld . In 1973 he was transferred to Neubiberg , where Kirsch completed the officer training course in the III. Completed inspection at the Luftwaffe officers' school.

From 1975 to 1977 he was again employed at JaboG 32 in Lechfeld, where he served as a platoon leader in the sergeant training and security squadron. Subsequently, he was also deployed in Lechfeld until 1979 as an NBC and self-protection officer in the staff of the air base group of the fighter-bomber squadron. From 1979 to 1981 Kirsch served as the squadron chief of the security squadron of Missile Squadron 1 in Lechfeld.

In 1981, when he was transferred to the ABC and self-protection school in Sonthofen , he was transferred to the army . Kirsch was a student in the staff group there until 1982, after which until 1984 he was the lecture hall director for reserve officer courses. From 1984 Kirsch was employed as the company commander of NBC Defense Training Company 4 in Sonthofen and led it until 1986. This was followed by a transfer to Cologne and employment as an adjutant to the chief of the Army Office there from 1986 to 1987.

In 1987 Kirsch returned to Sonthofen and until 1991 was the lecture hall director of the chief / battalion commander courses of the NBC defense force. From 1991 to 1994 he then served at the Army Officers' School in Munich as a lecture hall / head of inspection and tactics teacher for the Xth inspection. In 1994 he was a staff officer for special use as a specialist troop teacher at the ABC / SeS school in Sonthofen, in order to take over command of the NBC Defense Battalion 705 in Bad Düben until 1997 . After that he was again in Sonthofen from 1997 to 2002 as head of the school staff of the ABC / SeS school and barracks commander of the hunter barracks .

From 2002 to 2005 he was employed as a speaker for NBC defense / self-protection and fire protection in the command staff of the armed forces (FüS) in the Bonn Federal Ministry of Defense . Kirsch has been teaching group commander (teaching group A) of the ABC-SeS school since 2005. In addition, since November 29, 2005, Kirsch has been the second Deputy Federal Chairman of the German Armed Forces Association based in Berlin. After Bernhard Gertz retired , he succeeded him on January 1, 2009 as federal chairman. On July 9, 2009, he was promoted to colonel . Since March 2010 he has also been a member of the Advisory Board for questions relating to internal guidance . He did not stand for re-election at the 19th General Assembly of the German Armed Forces Association in November 2013. The delegates elected Lieutenant Colonel André Wüstner as his successor .
