The chapel stands in the former part of the village and in today's street Hickeswinkel, which leads from Karken towards Haaren . The field chapel is located at the end of the village about 450 m in a south-easterly direction. It is popularly known as the Kapellchen am Wöbel .
history
This property was built in 1938 as a former bunker , used as an ammunition store during the war from 1939–1945 . After the Second World War , the bunker was cleared and converted into a field chapel . The chapel was consecrated to Our Lady in 1953 by Pastor Dr. Rudolf Vitusx blessed and given to the destiny. In times of need and illness, neighborhoods go to the chapel in processions and pray for help and health.
architecture
The building is a plastered reinforced concrete structure with a tile-covered gable roof . The chapel is surrounded by a hedge and some beech trees provide shade in summer. A bench invites you to relax. A crucifix hangs over the right-angled entrance door . A tiled floor is laid inside. The wall and ceiling are painted and set off in large ornaments .
Furnishing
- In the chapel there is a Madonna and Child, two angel figures , several small icons , candles and flower arrangements and some prayer benches.
