history
After the Second World War , the Evangelical Church Community in the Heinsberg area expanded very strongly, also due to the influx of displaced families from eastern Germany . With the completion of the Christ Church in Heinsberg , the desire for its own church also awoke in Oberbruch. With a contribution from the regional church of DM 70,000, the municipality of Oberbruch also approved the project. In 1959 negotiations on the building site began , and construction began in 1962. The construction management was in the hands of the architect Walter Jendges . The solemn inauguration of the Church of the Redeemer and the consecration of bells took place on September 27, 1964 . The bells are a foundation of the general director Dr. Helmut Vits from the United Glanzstoff factories in Wuppertal . Hanna Boss , the wife of the former director of the Oberbruch Glanzstoffwerk , gave the Church of the Redeemer the Holy Communion chalice and a silver jug for the inauguration , while Pastor Fuchs added the silver plate.
In autumn 2017 it was decided that the necessary building renovation could not be financially supported and that the church should be de-dedicated and the entire site including the youth home should be sold. In the fall of 2018 the church was deedicated.
architecture
Because of the reduced load-bearing capacity of the subsoil , the architect developed a suitable concept for building the church. Supporting elements are six heavy steel support frame over which a relatively light case in the form of a reinforced concrete plate with a cover made of copper were drawn. The bell tower was made of exposed concrete and fields made of light white exposed aggregate concrete .
