history
Scheifendahl had a small wooden chapel in honor of the Immaculate Conception very early on . In 1889/90 the residents of Scheifendahl built a new brick chapel , which they donated to the Waldenrath Church on August 31, 1890 . The patron saint is St. Brigida . In 1925 the church building was expanded due to lack of space. Numerous donations and foundations were ordered for this purpose . In 1963 the chapel was repaired and a new sacristy was built. On April 13, 1992, the chapel was so badly damaged by an earthquake that it had to be closed for three years. On July 12, 2010, the spire was badly damaged in a storm , so that the tower had to be rebuilt. In 2011 the bell was fitted with a new clapper .
architecture
The Marienkapelle is a brick building with a transept and choir . On the gable is a four-sided projecting roof turret with an eight-sided slim helmet . This is crowned by a weathercock . The masonry is decorated with a surrounding arched frieze.
