Grain mill

The Lümbach Clarissa windmill in Kirchhoven was built in 1882 by the miller Nikolaus Geffers, and in 1919 - after his son Leonhard's accident at work - sold to Gerhard Krings. In February 1945 it was damaged by mortar fire and put back into operation after the end of the war. In 1964 it was handed over to the son-in-law Josef Tümmers and after his death in 1998 passed on to his daughter Annemie Boden. "Clarissa" was named after the granddaughter of the last active miller, Josef Tümmers. The mill has been shut down commercially since 1956. In 1983 it was completely overhauled and got new blades, a new grinder and a new hood. It is advisable to visit the mill on request, it is open a few days a year ( German Milling Day , always on Whitsun Monday and on the day of the open monument , the 2nd Sunday of September). In addition, the "Lümbacher Mühle" is one of four windmills of the Muehlenverein-Selfkant . It is located directly on Selfkant-Mühlenstrasse .

Saint Hubertus Church

The Sankt Hubertus Church is the center of the place. The current church was built in 1846 instead of a porch. The church was built according to the plans of Johan Baptis Cremer from Linnich. One bell dates from 1638, the crucifixion group from the 15th century, the sacrament house is from the 14th / 15th century. Century.

Chapel Lümbach

The small processional chapel is located in the Lümbach district on the corner of Lümbacher Weg and Lindenstraße. It was built in 1960 by the residents of the village and is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Poor. The brick building is covered with a steep, slate-covered gable roof. Inside there is a niche with a figure of Mary , which also serves as an altar. There is a notice board on the inside wall. The room is closed by a wrought iron grille.

Economy and Transport

District road 5 leads through the village from Lindern to Gangelt. In the future she should bypass the place. It is planned to build a bypass around Haaren and Kirchhoven.

Rail transport

In the 19th century, a small train line was planned from Heinsberg station to Sittard . It was never built due to the high cost. However, there is still speculation that the Heinsberger Bahn will be extended to Roermond . This would give Kirchhoven or a neighboring town a train station or stop.

Bus transport

Buses run through the village from Waldfeucht to Heinsberg bus station.

industrial Estate

There is a small industrial park on the western outskirts.
