The church is at Wassenberger Straße 79, the federal road 221 that leads from Wassenberg to Heinsberg.

history

In the years 1869/71 a new church was built according to plans by Matthias Klein from Horster-Schelsen. On November 22, 1906, interruption was made a parish . After the Second World War , the church became too small and in 1961/62 it was enlarged by an extension. The church was consecrated on October 27, 1962 .

Today, together with other parishes, St. Maria Sorrowful Mother forms the community of parishes (GdG) Heinsberg-Waldfeucht in the diocese of Aachen .

architecture

The original church from 1871 was built as a three - aisled brick basilica with an apse . The extension from 1961 was placed as a transept on the open gable wall . The chancel was moved from the south apse to the intersection between the old and the new building. The construction planning was in the hands of architect Wilhelm Andermahr from Wassenberg .

Furnishing

  • In the church a vespers picture from the 15th century in wood, height 69.5 cm, width 41.5 cm, depth 29 cm.
  • The organ with 45 registers and electric action from 1967 was built by the Heinz Wilbrand company from Übach-Palenberg . It is the extended organ of the Protestant church Düren from 1956 by Willi Peter from Cologne-Mülheim.
  • In the bell tower are four bells from 1990 levels.
  • The church has stained glass .
  • In the church there is an altar , a tabernacle and several figures of saints .
