Morastrand is a former minor town (Köping) in the Swedish province of Dalarnas län and the historical province of Dalarna .

Morastrand is located on Lake Siljan and is the old name for centrala Mora , the center of Mora , colloquially known as Stranden ("the beach"). On October 6, 1893, Morastrand became a self-governing settlement (municipalsamhälle) within the rural community (landskommun) Mora, which had existed since January 1, 1863 . On January 1, 1908, the independent minor town Morastrand emerged from it. On January 1, 1959, the rural community was incorporated into the minor city, which was also renamed Mora (Mora köping) . Today's municipality of Mora emerged from the minority town and three surrounding rural communities ( Sollerön , Våmhus and Venjan ) on January 1, 1971 . Within this, Morastrand is part of the Mora crime scene.

In Morastrand there is a church, the town hall and the shopping street of Mora. The place is the final stop of the trains from Borlänge and the inland railway from Östersund - the inland railway calls the stop as Mora Strand.
