Morbid Saint is an American thrash metal band that formed in Sheboygan , Wisconsin in 1986 , split in 1993, and reunited in 2010.

history

The band was formed in 1986 by guitarists Jim Fergades and Jay Visser, bassist Mike Chappa and drummer Lee Reynolds. Bassist Chappa was replaced by Tony Paletti the following year and singer Bob Sinjakovic joined the band. The band did not last long and was replaced by Pat Lind in 1988. Together they recorded their first demo called Lock Up Your Children that same year .

In 1988 they recorded their first and so far only album. The album Spectrum of Death was produced by Eric Greif , who was also the manager of Chuck Schuldiner and Death from 1988 to 1992. Morbid Saint played as the opening band for Death at Metalfest 1989 , which also saw Acrophet . The album was recorded at Opus Recording in Gurnee , Illinois .

In 1992 the Demo Destruction System was released before the band split up in December 1993.

During the breakup, the members devoted themselves to different things: Pat Lind worked as a salesman and played in a band called Sgt. Discharge . He also had a job in a zoo. Jay Visser played in several different bands, got married and had a daughter. Jim Fergades ran his own business. In 2010 the band reunited and prepared for a new album. The band was under contract with Relapse Records . The band now consisted of the members Jim Fergades, Jay Visser, Pat Lind, as well as a new drummer and a new bass player who are to be introduced on the new album.

style

The band plays very aggressive, fast thrash metal. The music is technically demanding and is described as a mixture of Dark Angel and Kreator or of Sadus and (early) Bathory .
