Acrophet was an American thrash metal band that formed in Brookfield , Wisconsin in 1986 and split again in 1990.
history
The band was formed in 1986 by high school buddies Jason Mooney (drums, songwriter), Paul Klein (electric bass), Dave Pelino and Todd Saikie (both electric guitar). Together they recorded the demo The Answer Within in 1987 and thus reached a contract with Triple X Records / Roadrunner Records . This was followed by a few smaller concerts and a tour through the USA and Mexico . They also played as the inaugural band for bands like Sepultura , Flotsam and Jetsam , King Diamond , Death , Exodus , Testament , Overkill , Death Angel , Nuclear Assault , Realm , Helix and Drivin 'N' Cryin ' .
Their debut album called Corrupt Minds was released in 1988. The release was followed by further tours through Mexico and the USA. The second album Faded Glory followed in 1990. Guitarist Todd Saikie left the band in the same year and was replaced in 1991 by Rob Anthony. This was followed by some tours and work on the third album. However, the band broke up that same year.
After the separation
Dave Pelino married and became a neurologist in South Carolina , USA. Todd Saikie became a gynecologist and obstetrician in Milwaukee and is a father of three himself. Rob Anthony started a solo career and has released three albums to date. Dave Baumann continued to play bass with Rob Anthony. He is also the father of a son. Jason Mooney became a nurse, lives in Florida , got married and has a son. In his spare time he gives drum lessons. He is also a studio drummer for Bon-Giovi Entertainment .
In 2008, the band's two limited edition albums were re-mastered and re-released via Metal Mind Productions .
