Moritz Bassler

Moritz Baßler (born December 2, 1962 ) is a German literary scholar and since 2005 Professor of Modern German Literature at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

Life

After studying German and philosophy in Kiel, Tübingen and Berkeley, Moritz Baßler received his doctorate in 1993 under Gotthart Wunberg in Tübingen and worked until 1998 as editor of the Real Lexicon of German Literature Studies . As an assistant to Helmut Lethen at the chair for modern German literature at the University of Rostock , he completed his habilitation in 2003.

Baßler was Professor of Literature at the International University Bremen until 2005 . Since then he has been Professor of Modern German Literature at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In November 2013, Baßler was elected the first chairman of the literature commission for Westphalia .

He is married and has two children.
