Moritz Daum

Moritz Matthäus Daum (born February 5, 1973 in Baden , Switzerland ) is a German psychologist and professor at the University of Zurich .

Life

Daum initially studied biology at the University of Zurich from 1993 , but then switched to psychology in 1996 . There he obtained his licentiate in psychology at the Philosophical Faculty in 2001 . He then worked as a research assistant at Friedrich Wilkening's Zurich chair . In 2004 he changed to Wolfgang Prinz's chair at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences , where Daum worked as a research assistant until 2010. In 2005 Daum was awarded a Dr. phil is doing his doctorate . From October 2008 to February 2009 he worked as part of a research stay at the University of Oslo . Between October 2010 and July 2012 Daum headed the research group “Development of Cognition and Action” at the Max Planck Institute for Cognitive and Neurosciences in Leipzig. Meanwhile, in February 2011, he completed his habilitation at the University of Leipzig with a work on developmental psychology. Since August 2012 Daum has been a full professor of developmental psychology at the Psychological Institute of the University of Zurich.

Daum is married and has three children.

Research and writings (selection)

Daum's research focus is developmental psychology, especially in infancy and early childhood. This includes, among other things, cognitive development in childhood, the connection between understanding of action and developing skills in action control in childhood, selective imitation, the neurophysiological foundations of early childhood social-cognitive development, and the development of intuitive-physical knowledge and dynamic representations.
