Moritz Geisreiter (World Championships in Sotschi, 2013)
Moritz Geisreiter (born December 30, 1987 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a German speed skater . The long-distance specialist set five German records in his career from 2008 to 2018 and was German champion eight times. On December 10, 2017, at the World Cup in Salt Lake City, he achieved third place in 6: 07.31 min and his best individual result, which made him the seventh fastest athlete in the world over this distance. In both of his Olympic Games he was tenth over 5000 m and twelfth over 10,000 m ( Sotschi 2014 ) as well as eighth over 5000 m and ninth over 10,000 m ( Pyeongchang 2018 ). At the all-around European championship in 2013 in Heerenveen , the Netherlands , he was sixth in the 5000 m and was allowed to start over 10,000 m. In the all-around competition he reached eighth place and set a new German record in the great four-way battle with 152.044 points.
In 2018 Geisreiter said goodbye to competitive sports. As part of a dual career, she recently completed a master’s degree in business psychology. Today he works as an independent career advisor for competitive athletes, students and young adults. He has been a member of the DOSB's athletes' commission and a member of the executive committee of the Athletes Germany Association since 2018 .
