Moritz Tettelbach

Ernst Moritz Gustav Tettelbach (born March 14, 1794 in Dresden ; † December 12, 1870 ibid) was a German flower painter, court painter at the court of King Friedrich August II of Saxony .

Moritz Tellebach was a son of Gottfried Benjamin Tettelbach, the " Royal Saxon Court and Cabinet Stone Cutter and Engraver of Friedrichstadt near Dresden ".

His siblings were also artists: the flower painter Augusta Tettelbach and the stone cutters Felix and Paul Clemens Alexander Tettelbach.

The State Handbook for the Kingdom of Saxony 1843 lists among the honorary members the members of the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden : Ernst Moritz Tettelbach, court painter, flower painter.

In the Allgemeine Künstlerlexicon, Zweyter Theil, ninth section, Zurich 1816, it is described as follows:

(Tettelbach) Ernst Moritz Gustav, usually only Moritz, son of the following Gottfried Benjamin; born at Dresden 1784 .
The same learned from 1807 the fruit and flower painting with the demoiselle Caroline Friederike Friedrich in Dresden. At the art exhibitions he has shown himself with various works in gouache. Then at the salon of 1814. with pieces of fruit in oil, which showed great talent. "

Tettelbach created thousands of depictions of plants, mostly in watercolor , for the royal art gallery.
