Moriz Sondheim (* 1860 in Le Havre ; † April 10, 1944 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German antiquarian .

Moriz Sondheim was born in France to German parents. His father had to return to Germany when the war broke out in 1870 and settled in Karlsruhe , where Moriz attended high school. In 1877 he started as an apprentice at the Joseph Baer & Co. antiquarian bookshop in Frankfurt. In 1890 he became an authorized signatory there, and on January 1, 1901, he co-owned the company with Leo and Edwin Baer .

After the professional ban in June 1934 and the dissolution of the company, he stayed in Frankfurt, had to wear the “ Jewish star ” and live in a “ Jewish house ”. He died as a result of an air raid.

He married Marie Kossmann in Karlsruhe in 1887 (born March 28, 1857 in St. Petersburg; † 1934). Both of them stated “Jewish” as their denomination; he was later changed to “non-denominational” and her to “Protestant”.
