Morphosis is an American, international architecture firm .

history

The company was founded in 1972 by Thom Mayne and Michael Rotondi with the aim of developing an architecture that overcomes the limitations of traditional design languages. At first, Morphosis was just a loose working group. The first assignment was a school in Pasadena that Mayne's son attended. This was followed by a number of residential projects, including Lawrence Residence . Since then, Morphosis has grown into one of the most well-known architectural firms in the United States, accepting orders from all over the world.

  • The building for the headquarters of Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank in Klagenfurt , Osteinfahrt, built 1997–2000, opened in September 1999 consists of a cuboid with an aluminum-glass façade, which lies between two large, longer, only slightly transparent cladding walls. Despite pressure from the state cultural advisor Jörg Haider , the building was not awarded a prize by the jury of the Carinthian State Building Prize in 1999 . "On the outside an expressive architectural sculpture, inside a tangle of remaining rooms, in which workplaces are somehow arranged, partly dark, partly overexposed." On December 16, 2015, the rotating logo of Hypo on the building roof was dismantled.
