The Morton Glacier is an approximately 15 miles long glacier in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It flows from the Holland Range in an easterly direction between the Vaughan Promontory and the Lewis Ridge ridge to the Ross Ice Shelf on the Shackleton Coast .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1966 after Lieutenant Commander John A. Morton, head of the United States Navy's VX-6 ALFA flight squadron , which was stationed at McMurdo Station in the winter of 1964.
