The Motettenchor Stuttgart has been an integral part of concert life in Stuttgart for almost 70 years. Large oratorios , chamber music and a cappella programs from all musical epochs are just as much a part of the repertoire as premieres and re-performances of largely unknown compositions.

The choir is funded by the state capital Stuttgart and the regional council of Stuttgart.

History of origin

The Motettenchor Stuttgart was founded in 1951 by KMD Günter Graulich , who directed it until 2001. Simon Schorr was its conductor from 2002 to 2017 ; Felix Romankiewicz has been the musical director since 2018. Radio and vinyl recordings document the traditional history of the choir, from which the Carus publishing house emerged .

Choir program

The Motettenchor Stuttgart develops two to three concert programs per year, which are mainly performed in the large Stuttgart churches such as the collegiate church , the St. Eberhard cathedral and the Matthäuskirche. There are also joint concerts with other choirs and cantata services in the Matthäuskirche Stuttgart.
