Mother Jane is a German rock band from Hanover. The band was formed in 1994 around the founder of the rock band Jane , Klaus Hess .

history

Mother Jane's original line-up included Klaus Hess ( guitar , vocals ), Kai Schiering ( electric bass , vocals) and Jens Dettmer ( drums ).

A vinyl single was released in 1998, followed by a highly acclaimed live CD, Comes Alive , recorded in Switzerland in 2000 . At this time the band was supplemented by Klaus Henatsch ( keyboard , vocals).

In the following years Klaus Henatsch and Jens Dettmer left the band and were replaced in 2005 by Jens Betjemann (guitar, vocals) and Lucas Quentin (drums). In 2009 the studio CD In Dreams was released . While Mother Jane had only given concerts sporadically in the years before, In Dreams was the starting signal for a whole series of concerts at home and abroad. Some concerts were recorded and published in 2010 as "Hungry4Live Part I and II".

Over the years, Mother Jane has developed away from the keyboard-heavy sound of the 1970s and 1980s to a pure guitar band, but without forgetting the origins.

Guitarist Jens Betjemann died on January 28, 2014 at the age of 45.

Name dispute

Due to disputes over the name of the band "Jane", a court settlement was reached on September 6, 1994 before the civil chamber of the Hanover Regional Court that the bands resulting from the original formation of Jane may only be called with the suffix "Jane". Klaus Hess, founder, guitarist and main composer, chose the name "Mother Jane" to make it clear who the "doer" of the original formation Jane was. The other parliamentary group chose the name "Peter Panka's Jane".
