Mothibistad is a place in the South African province of North Cape (Northern Cape). It is located in the Ga-Segonyana parish in the John Taolo Gaetsewe district . Mothibistad is the administrative seat of the northern community of Joe Morolong .

In 2011 Mothibistad had 9,616 inhabitants. Around 88 percent said Setswana was their mother tongue. The place is in a flat environment. Kuruman is around nine kilometers southwest . Like other surrounding settlements, Mothibistad was built as a township settlement.
history
Until 1994 Mothibistad was in the homeland of Bophuthatswana . After its dissolution it became the province of Northwest and in 2006 the province of North Cape. The place was named after the plant Euphorbia ingens , a species of euphorbia, that lived there .
