The Mount Airthrey is a striking, 1,175 m high mountain in the southern area of the Antarctic dry valleys in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises in the middle of a mountain range that lies between the Garwood Valley and the Marshall Valley .
He was named by the Scottish members of a team of biologists from the University of Canterbury , who carried out numerous studies in the region. "Airthrey" is the Scottish Gaelic name for a high point. This is also the name of the place where the University of Stirling was founded .
