Mount Bowles is an 834 m high and ice-covered mountain on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It rises 5 km north of Mount Friesland .
The mountain is first recorded on maps by the British polar explorer Henry Foster during his voyage with the HMS Chanticleer (1828–1831). Foster named him after Admiral William Bowles (1780-1869), from 1816 to 1820 commander-in-chief of the Pacific Station .
