The Mount Fraser , a volcanic crater , is located 5 km from Wallan in Victoria , Australia .

The Mount Fraser has m at its base a diameter of 1200 and its highest point reaches a height of 425  m above sea level and 125 meters above ground. The volcanic mountain has a wide crater that is open in the southwest and an inner one that is closed. The volcano was active 1.06 to 0.82 million years ago. There is a quarry on the southern slopes and parts of the western and southern crater rim have been mined for stone extraction since the European settlement and have changed the contour of the mountain.

The mountain is the largest volcanic crater around Melbourne and one of the largest in the Newer Volcanics Province . Peridotite inclusions in the lava of Mount Fraser led to insights into the formation of the Newer Volcanics Province . The volcanic eruptions of Mount Fraser filled some northern valleys of the tributaries of the Yarra River with volcanic material.
