Mount Hamilton is the highest peak of about 1,100 kilometers southwest of New Zealand past Macquarie Island in the southern Pacific Ocean . Politically, the island belongs to the Australian state of Tasmania . The mountain is located in the south of the mainly basaltic island, which rises slightly from north to south, and reaches a height of 433 m above sea level. He rose only 600,000 years ago from the sea and is the highest point of the Macquarie Ridge represents the South Pacific Australian plate from the Pacific Plate separates.
