Mount Hill is a 945 m high mountain on the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 13 km southwest of Cape Sharbonneau on the east bank of the head end of Lehrke Inlet .
Participants of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) discovered it during an overflight from December 30, 1940. They incorrectly named it Cape Hill . It is named after Archie Clayton Hill (1902–1977), cook on this research trip. The real nature of the object was discovered by participants of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) together with scientists from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey when they explored the area by dog sledding in 1947 . The naming has been adapted accordingly.
