Florentin Nicolae

Florentin-Daniel Nicolae (born February 23, 1981 in Ștefăneşti (Argeş) ) is a former Romanian ski racer .

He learned to ski from his father and then joined Dinamo Brașov . In 2000 he became Romanian champion in downhill, super G and giant slalom for the first time. Other national titles followed.

Nicolae started at the World Ski Championships in Italy in 2005 . He started in slalom, giant slalom, super G, downhill and combined in Bormio and achieved his best result with 29th place in combined.

In 2006 Nicolae took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Turin , where he started in the downhill and in the combined. In 14 years he was the first Romanian since 1992 to take part in an alpine skiing competition at the Olympic Games. In Sestriere, where the competitions took place, he landed on 53rd (downhill) and 35th (combination) and last place.
