The Mount Homa ( Luo : Got Uma or God Marahuma ) is applicable as extinct volcano in western Kenya . It consists of carbonatite and is - like the active Ol Doinyo Lengai - one of the few carbonatite volcanoes in the world. Its origin is estimated to be the Miocene or Pleistocene . The last outbreak is unknown. Lake Simbi , located at the foot of the volcano's eastern flank, is a maar lake that may have emerged in historical times. This is indicated by legends of the inhabitants in the vicinity of the volcano.
