Mount Hubbard is a mountain on Thurston Island off the Eights coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . In the Walker Mountains it rises 10 km east of Mount Noxon .
Its position was first determined from aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy during Operation Highjump (1946–1947) in December 1946. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1961 after Harold A. Hubbard, geologist of the United States Geological Survey aboard the USCGC icebreaker Burton Island during the US Navy exploration trip in February 1960 to the Bellingshausen Sea .
