Mount Phoebe is a 1040 m high mountain in the southeast of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It rises up between the head ends of the Neptune and Saturn glaciers at the junction of four radially arranged mountain ridges . Its flattened summit, which rises 300 m from the surrounding ice masses, consists of conglomerate rock .
The American polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth took the first aerial photographs during an overflight on November 23, 1935. These were used by the US cartographer WLG Joerg for mapping. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1974 based on the naming of the Saturn glacier after the Saturn moon Phoebe .
