Mount Prestrud is a rocky mountain peak in the Antarctic Ross Dependency, over 2,400 m high . In the Queen Maud Mountains it rises in the southwestern part of the massif at the head of the Amundsen Glacier .
The Norwegian polar explorer Roald Amundsen named a number of roughly mapped peaks in the vicinity of the mountain described here in the course of his South Pole expedition (1910–1912). It is named after the Norwegian Kristian Prestrud (1881–1927), who, together with Amundsen and three other expedition participants, was the first to reach the geographic South Pole on December 14, 1912 . The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964.
