Mount Provender ( English , freely translated for feed mountain ) is a striking, rocky mountain in the East Antarctic Coatsland . At a height of 900 m, it marks the northwestern extension of the Shackleton Range .
Participants in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) led by British polar explorer Vivian Fuchs mapped it. It was named after a supply store with food and fuel as well as a camp on the south side of the mountain for the sled teams of the expedition, who had carried out surveying work in this part of the Shackleton Range.
