Mount Swinford is a 1,550 m high mountain in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 4.5 km west-northwest of Mount Harker in the Saint Johns Range .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 1976 after Lieutenant Commander Harold D. Swinford of the United States Navy , who was involved in the operation of the nuclear reactor at McMurdo Station in the Antarctic winters of 1963 and 1968 .
