Mount Tempyō (from Japanese 天平山 Tempyo-zan , German 'Flattened Mountain' ) is a 260 m high and rocky hill on the Prince Harald Coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises on the southern edge of the Skarvsnes headland .
Aerial photographs and measurements of a Japanese Antarctic expedition that lasted from 1957 to 1962 were used to map it. Japanese scientists made its descriptive naming in 1973, which the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated into English in 1975.
