Mount Wycheproof is a hill in Wycheproof , Victoria, Australia , the summit of which is 43 meters above the surrounding terrain and 148 meters above sea ​​level . It is the only place where the mineral Wycheproofite was found .

history

Wycheproof parish is located on the southern slopes of the mountain and was founded in 1846, but was not surveyed until 1878. The name comes from the local Aboriginal dialect, in which wichi-poorp translated means "grass on a hill".

geology

Granite comes to light on Mount Wycheproof . Together with Pyramid Hill , it is part of the low-lying Terrick Terrick Range . It has a rocky, conical shape typical of the western parts of Victoria. Phosphates are comparatively rare in Victoria, but Mount Wycheproof is known for “its” mineral , Wycheproofite . It can be characterized by its pink color and its transparency.
