List of grape varieties

Marufo (or Mourisco Tinto) is a red wine variety . It is an old, indigenous variety from northern Portugal .

distribution

In Portugal's grape variety index, the variety ranks 9th among the red varieties with a planted area of 5,166 hectares. The early ripening variety gives light red wines with a simple character. In the Portuguese regions of Douro and Minho it is mostly processed into simple table wines , but is also used to a very limited extent in port wine .

properties

It only has female flowers and is therefore not self-fruiting. In viticulture , this has the economic disadvantage, since a pollinator variety that blooms at the same time has to be planted out.
