Economy and Infrastructure
Bauxite is mined in the Mokanji Hills near the city. The city is a transshipment and market place for ginger, kola nuts, palm oil and kernels, and rice.
The place has a small hospital, police station and administration building for the local government. The roads in the area are mostly in poor condition. Moyamba has no airfield that could make up for this situation.
